Anti-oxidant activity is vital in maintaining the health of your arteries alongside promoting good circulation.  Vitamin E functions primarily as an antioxidant that prevents the formation of free- radicals.  Preliminary evidence suggests that Selenium and Vitamin E act synergistically as antioxidants.

Niacin is often considered as a first-line treatment for patients with mixed hyperlipidemia or patients who need to increase high-density lipoprotein (good  cholesterol).  Taking niacin orally, in combination with simvastatin (Zocor), seems to reduce cardiovascular disease risk in people with coronary disease and low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.  Vitamin B6 is important in controlling levels of homocysteine within the body which may be a risk factor for heart disease.

A number of botanicals have been included.  Butcher's Broom orally seems to relieve chronic venous insufficiency symptoms including pain, heaviness, leg cramps, itching, and swelling.  Ginkgo Leaf Extract seems to improve blood flow to capillaries throughout the body including in the Central Nervous System, eyes, ears, extremities, and other tissues. Ginkgo Leaf Extract is likely to improve circulation by both decreasing blood viscosity and affecting vascular smooth muscle. Preliminary evidence suggests that ginger may possess hypoglycemic, hypocholesterolemic, and antiplatelet effects. In laboratory models of diabetes, Ginger seems to increase the release of insulin and lower cholesterol levels.  Cayenne is known to possess vaso-dilatory properties which may aid blood circulation.

Warning:

Concomitant use of herbs and supplements that affect platelet aggregation could theoretically increase the risk of bleeding in some people. Ginkgo in combination with buspirone (BuSpar), fluoxetine (Prozac), melatonin, and St. John's Wort might cause hypomania in patients with depression.
