This formula contains ingredients which target metabolism and neuronal activity thought to be helpful in supporting those with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD and HD).

Product Details:

B vitamin complex is an essential component of this formula. It comprises eight water-soluble vitamins which play crucial roles in cell metabolism and therefore may be important in regulating energy levels.  B vitamin complex include Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Folate, Biotin and  Pantothenic Acid. Choline bitartrate and Inositol are also included because of their intimate involvement in metabolic processes.  Choline is needed for the synthesis of cell membrane phospholipids and other cell compounds.  Inositol is important as the basis for a number of signalling and secondary messenger molecules.  PABA is also involved in metabolic processes.

Tight blood sugar control may be important in ADD/ HD.  Magnesium may help regulate blood sugar levels through insulin signal transduction and insulin receptor binding. Similarly Chromium is thought to have glucose-regulatory activity. Zinc is an essential element in human and animal nutrition with a wide range of biological roles. Taking zinc orally in combination with conventional treatment might modestly improve symptoms of hyperactivity, impulsivity, and impaired socialization in some children with ADD/HD.  

Omega-3- fatty acids include DHA, and are known to be present in high concentrations in brain cells. A deficiency of essential fatty acids has been observed in some children with ADD/HD compared with unaffected children and there is preliminary evidence that supplementation may therefore be helpful.  L-Carnitine has been promoted for ADD/HD treatment. L-Carnitine is needed for fatty acid metabolism and very early clinical research suggests it may decrease hyperactive behaviour.  Again early work suggests a specific combination product containing Ginkgo Leaf Extract may help improve ADD/HD symptoms such as anxiety, hyperactivity, and impulsivity in children aged 3-17 years.  Alpha-Lipoic Acid has activity in enhancing biological energy production.

Due to inclusion of Gingko in this formula, please consult your doctor before taking this formula in conjunction with blood anti-coagulants such as aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, indomethacin (Indocin), ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
