Zinc and Iron are important minerals in maintaining the immune system to fight such infections.  Vitamin C is important in for its role in the immune system, which will help to prevent infection in the tooth and mouth.  It is also crucial in the formation of collagen which is found in the dentin of the tooth.  Zinc and copper may also help to reduce inflammation that may occur due to tooth damage. Folate, Vitamin B6 and B12 are important in preventing raised homocysteine levels which can increase the body's susceptibility to infection.  A number of other B vitamins such as Thiamin, Riboflavin and Choline Bitartrate may help assist in improving stress which may be connected to bruxism.

Vitamins C, D, E and fish n-3 fatty acids reduce tissue destruction, enhance wound healing, and increase bone strength and rate of bone formation.  Calcium and Vitamin D have a beneficial effect on bones and on tooth retention.  Minerals such as calcium magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, boron and vanadium are all essential to bone and tooth health.  Dietary boron has been shown to affect several aspects of mineral metabolism in animal studies.
