In addition to the traditional nutrient antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E, we added Alpha Lipoic Acid, which is a relative newcomer to the antioxidant supplement scene. This unique compound is both fat and water-soluble and it is recognized for its ability to protect nerve health. Minerals are important antioxidants too, items such as Selenium contains Selenide which is essential for the activity of selenoproteins, such as the glutathione peroxidase enzyme (GSH-Px). Glutathione is an important antioxidant that is primarily synthesized in the liver. It is involved in DNA synthesis and repair, protein and prostaglandin synthesis, amino acid transport, metabolism of toxins and carcinogens, immune system function, prevention of oxidative cell damage, and enzyme activation. Milk Thistle Extract supports the liver's role in management of oxidative stress while Quercetin is a dietary flavonoid found in many plants.
